How to Creatively Use Old Bread

Hillside bread, if stored properly, can be eaten up to a week.  Heating and/or toasting bring the bread back to life since there is still adequate moisture stored in the loaf, even after several days.

Serving ideas:

1.  Brush slices with extra virgin olive oil and heat/toast to make croutons, crostini, or bread crumbs.

2.  For stuffing, cube or tear up, place on cookie sheet and heat at low temperature until very dry; you may use a rolling pin to coarsely crush, or by pulsing in a food processor.

3.  Sprinkle crumbs over soup to thicken or to top a casserole.

4.  May be used in meatballs, meatloaf, or coating sautéed or fried vegetables, meats, and poultry.
